RACHEL OBERMEIER

SOUTHPORT, NORTH CAROLINA

I am thrilled to be a travel advisor! It is the perfect culmination of my career in tourism and my lifelong love of travel.

I grew up in Tennessee and moved to Germany after marrying my German husband. I had a great job there – Director of Sales for Tennessee Tourism and Memphis & Mississippi, covering all German speaking countries I enjoyed sharing the wonders of the region and developing customized itineraries that helped visitors experience the Deep South’s history, culture, and hidden gems. These include discovering a juke joint in Mississippi, reflecting after a visit to the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, absorbing the live music while on Lower Broadway in Nashville, or exploring the world-class collections at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.
Living in Germany gave my family and me the opportunity to explore Europe extensively. We took golf lessons in Portugal, watched our children learn to ski in Austria, celebrated New Year’s Eve by biking through Amsterdam, and enjoyed walks along the Seine in Paris.
Vacationing in Europe remains one of my greatest passions. In recent years, we have enjoyed exploring the archeological wonders on the Greek islands during the day and watching the sun set while viewing the beautiful blue water in the evening.

Discovering new destinations has enriched my life. I’ve relished our travels to Cape Verde where the locals were so hospitable. Driving next to camels leisurely walking along the road in Oman is an experience not long forgotten. Through travel I’ve learned that the most memorable trips are built around meaningful experiences, not just sightseeing. I’ve become a travel advisor because I enjoy connecting travelers with authentic experiences that create lasting memories.
