River cruising is more about land than cruising. It’s all the simplicity of a cruise, but the immersiveness of a land vacation. Whether you’re looking for a traditional experience like a guided walking tour, want to sample local foods and beverages, or are hoping to get active with a biking or hiking adventure, Riverside gives you multiple shore excursions to choose from in every port. Excursions are included in Riverside’s “All-Inclusive” and “Full Board Plus Excursions” packages; however, if you don’t want to purchase these packages, you can opt to purchase one-off excursions as you see fit.
Over the years, I have had the pleasure of staying at many luxury hotels and experiencing cuisine from top chefs within the hospitality industry, and I can truly say, as a whole, Riverside was one of the BEST overall travel experiences I have ever had. The service, cuisine, accommodations, tours – everything was above and beyond. After a week on board with the Riverside Debussy team, I honestly felt like I was leaving behind good friends. Culinary Scene // The quality and presentation of the food blew me away. Everything I ate was excellent!
Best For // The median age range was late 40’s – 60’s. Riverside does an exceptional job catering to active travelers, and those who prefer an easy going experience. While kids are allowed to sail with Riverside, there are zero amenities for children.
What surprised me the most // I did not expect to become so close with the staff! They are phenomenal! The ratio of staff to guests really allows them to excel in service and attention to detail. However, beyond doing an amazing job attending to guests’ needs, it was evident they truly cared, and were genuinely glad we were there. It was hard to leave as we didn’t want the journey to end, but it was equally hard leaving our new friends!
