FORMULA ONE – SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX
EXPERIENCED BY AMY RADA
WHEN: October 2025
WHERE: Singapore
There are cities that transform for a Formula 1 weekend. I was prepared for that. But, Singapore doesn’t transform; it simply becomes more intensely itself. For one weekend each September, you can watch Singapore’s streets become one of the most demanding circuits in motorsport
Watching it all unfold from Swissôtel The Stamford feels like you’re discovering a secret. Perched above the city, the hotel offers a perspective that’s impossible to appreciate from the grandstands and that I could never have predicted. From your balcony, you can almost see the entire circuit twisting through the financial district below. As the lights come on and the race begins, the city feels suspended between sport and spectacle.
Singapore is one of the few races where the destination is every bit as compelling as the event. Your morning begins with kopi and kaya toast in nearby hawker centers and by afternoon the Gardens by the Bay offer a welcome escape beneath the Supertrees. As darkness falls, the city becomes absolutely electric. The floodlit circuit creates a cinematic backdrop unlike anywhere else I’ve seen on the Formula 1 calendar. Music spills from concert stages and restaurants buzz long after midnight.
Then there’s Swissôtel itself. The rooms are quietly elegant rather than ostentatious, designed to let the view remain the star. And the star, it is. Floor-to-ceiling windows pull the city inside, while private balconies invite you to linger long after the final checkered flag has fallen. Luxury here isn’t about excess. It’s about proximity—to the action, to the skyline, and to one of the world’s great urban spectacles.
The Singapore Grand Prix has always been one of Formula 1’s most glamorous weekends, but staying at Swissôtel changed my experience entirely. It turned a sporting event into something slower, more immersive, allowing you to move effortlessly between adrenaline and stillness. Long after the engines fall silent, that’s what stays with you. Not just the race. But the feeling of standing on a balcony high above one of the world’s greatest cities, watching Singapore come alive beneath a canopy of lights. THE INSIDE SCOOP
WELLNESS // Wellness feels integrated into the guest experience rather than treated as a standalone amenity. Even during the high-energy atmosphere of the Singapore Grand Prix, the hotel offers plenty of opportunities to slow down, recharge, and find balance.
CULINARY SCENE // The hotel sits within the Raffles City complex, offering an impressive collection of restaurants just an elevator ride away.
BEST FOR // Those looking for the most unique Formula 1 experience
HOW DID THIS EXPERIENCE MAKE ME FEEL // Rather than just attending a sporting event, I felt like I was a part of that event. Literally in the center of it all.
IF I DID THE SAME TRIP AGAIN, HERE’S WHAT I WOULD DO DIFFERENTLY // I would extend my vacation and follow the Singapore Grand Prix with another Asian destination that was more nature and relaxation-focused, resulting in a very well-rounded trip.
