Refugia Chiloé is a serene luxury lodge that blends beautifully into the island landscape of the Island Chiloé, the largest island in Chile. The property sits quietly on a grassy hillside overlooking the inland sea. The view from my room opened to views of the sea and rolling green hills. Inside, everything felt warm and intentional: natural wood, soft textures, and cozy spaces that made it easy to unwind after each day’s excursions. The hotel is refined yet grounded – luxury that still honors Chiloé’s culture, community, and traditions.
We explored Chiloé through a mix of adventure and culture – hiking along forests, hills, and coastline; spending a full day on the Williche Boat with kayaking, island visits, and dolphin sightings; and immersing ourselves in local life at an organic farm and the island market. It was the perfect blend of nature, heritage, and unforgettable experiences.
Chiloé surprised me in the best ways: raw nature, rich culture, and a deep sense of authenticity. The hotel staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making every moment feel personal and seamless. Refugia delivers everything you’d want in a luxury stay — comfort, design, exceptional food, while staying true to the island’s heritage. There is no surprise that the property was recently awarded 2 Michelin Keys for an exceptional stay. It’s a destination for clients who crave both refinement and real connection, and a place I’m already dreaming of returning to.
